Birnir EcologyEcologyBirnir's size, tropical to temperate climate, and variants in peninsular and archipelagic geography support one of the world's highest levels of biodiversity. Large species such as the Birnir tiger (a smaller cousin of the Cadairian tiger), the Birnir rhinoceros, orangutan, and Cadairian elephant, and Birnir leopard were once abundant, but numbers and distribution have dwindled drastically. Birnir is home to over 600 bird species. Forests cover approximately 60% of the country. However, the forests of the smaller, and more densely populated urban areas, have largely been removed for human habitation and agriculture. 36% of Birnir's 1,531 species of bird and 39% of its 515 species of mammal are endemic. Tropical seas surround Birnir's 18,000 kilometers of coastline. The country has a range of sea and coastal ecosystems, including beaches, dunes, estuaries, mangroves, coral reefs, seagrass beds, coastal mudflats, tidal flats, algal beds, and small island ecosystems. Birnir has one of the world's most enormous diversity of coral reef fish with more than 1,650 species in western Birnir and the island territories
