Insurgency in Jaginistan
OPENING REMARKS
Tyler Gutteres; Security Council President
Ladies and gentlemen and esteemed collegues of the Security Council.
It has come to the attention in recent weeks the devestating effects of the insurgency in Jaginistan. While we have long seen the evil and dangerous methods used by the insurgent forces, including barbaric suicide bombings, we have not experienced it first hand abroad. However, that changed last week. In Tregueaux, Zamastan, a suicide bomber killed 32 people in a metro station and injured dozens more. Al-Fijar claimed responsibility, and Zamastanian Intelligence believes that they are behind the attack. Al-Fijar is one of more than three dozen factions of rebel, insurgent, and terrorist organizations fighting to take control of Jaginistan and destroy the provisional governments. We, collegues of the Coalition, must take some sort of action.
Firstly, I want to reinforce this notion. We are not only bringing this to light because of the attack on our own soil. We have discussed the crisis in Jaginistan before, but it largely went unnoticed and was deemed largely irrelevant. Meanwhile, hundreds of Jaginistani civilians have been killed in insurgent bombings and attacks, and the participants of this chamber sit back idlely without batting an eye.
While the government of Jaginistan is backed by the overwhelming majority of the Coalition of Crown Albatross, it is important to note several details. One, the insurgencies in Jaginistan are backed by foreign governments. A multitude, including the terrorist group Al-Fijar, are believed to be sponsored by the regime of Malvare. This is where we need to act. Malvare, seemingly ever present in the crisises of the world, consistantly prop up organizations that serve to cause harm or damage to vulnerable countries or nations allied with the likes of Vulkaria and Zamastan. Malvare's proximity to Jaginistan provide it with key access points to supply the insurgent groups with anything from money and food supplies to weapons caches including small arms, rifles, and explosives. Among these, there are anti-tank rockets, dynamite packs, and C-4, which have been used in suicide attacks.
Z.I.S. formed these reports of possible Malvarian support of these groups due to these satellite images, showing a clear convoy of vehicles entering Jaginistan via Malvare on February 5th, 2020, and leaving two days later. Another satellite image captures these vehicles in the town of K'kirsha Dan, a stronghold of the insurgent group Ul-Alfura, on February 6th; the day intermediate to the 5th and the 7th.
President Talaal al-Ayub of Jaginistan has asked multiple times for international support. Coalition peacekeepers are currently only consistent of Zamastanian and Quetanan forces, of which there are only 341. 341 peacekeepers for a country of 11.4 million people. I am pledging on behalf of Congressional Hall and President Sakzi that an additional 400 Zamastanian peacekeepers will be deployed to Jaginistan, but we are asking the Coalition for additional support. This is not a combat role, only a peacekeeping one. No direct operations aside protection of supply chains, populated areas, and political provision.
Collegues, I hope you recognize the grave threat here. Jaginistan already suffers from several problems that require immediate solutions, but most pressing is the threat of sitting by once again as a genocide unfolds.
I now open the floor up to conversation and input from other members and welcome any intelligence reports you may provide.
