Danielson-Mora Addresses Eian Assembly Regarding Recent Clerical Scandal
Tuesday, September 8th
Prime Minister Lindsey Danielson-Mora addressed the Eian Assembly, the assembly of the highest Clergy of the Eianist Church, early this morning. Eianism, the State Religion of the Tervali Islands, was rocked by controversy recently with an anonymous whistleblower revealing a chain of corruption within the members of the Eian Assembly. The position of In-Eian-Ka, or Eianist Bishop equivalent, comes with a fair amount of power. And if history has taught humanity anything, it's that unchecked power eventually breeds corruption.
The anonymous whistleblower published Document after Document of this Corruption ring, revealing multiple cases of embezzlement and Tax Fraud, including some In-Eian-Ka stealing money meant to go to Church repairs and Artwork preservation, and others hiding their personal fortunes in accounts supposedly owned by the Eianist Church in order to avoid taxes. In the end, 17 different In-Eian-Ka were exposed as at least knowing of the scheme, and 11 of those were active participants. One of these participants is In-Eian-Ka Danoro Tera-Nano of the Tomasi Sect, a renowned leader in the Sect of Tomasi and a prestigious debater on arguments of faith. He was arrested yesterday on charges of Embezzlement and Tax Evasion.
Prime Minister Danielson-Mora spoke of this topic at the this morning's Eian Assembly emergency meeting, calling for a calm, logical investigation. "This is not the time for panic, and this is not the time for chaos. This church, and the people it serves, have survived worse scandals than this. The perpetrators of these heinous acts will be brought to justice, and order in the balance shall be restored.".
The Head of the Eianist Church, Kan-Eian Yeala-Kanai, has not responded to our request for a statement. Several Representatives of the he National Assembly have made comments on social media, including Matian Tilean-Jegera, Co-chairman of the United Moderate Party and head of the Party's Left wing. "It's incredible that the same people who are pledged to uphold our holy laws are some of the first people to break them. It's shameful."More information will be published as it becomes available.
