VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Naval Boats BREAKING NEWSOSSINIAN NAVAL BOATS CONDUCT "DANGEROUS AND PROVOCATIVE" MANEUVERS NEAR ZAMASTANIAN WARSHIPSWarning Shots Fired By Zamastanian DestroyersAbove: The ZMS Utopi Reef patrolling an oil well in the Ossinia Sea on Monday, May 11th. Ossinian forces have been blamed for multiple attacks on oil wells in Zamastanian and Janapan waters.Nearly a dozen small craft operated by the naval wing of Ossinia's Armed Forces carried out harassing maneuvers dangerously close to Zamastan warships conducting exercises in the Toyana Ocean, Navy officials said Thursday. "The Ossinian naval vessels repeatedly crossed the bows and sterns of the Zamastanian vessels at extremely close range and high speeds, including multiple crossings of the ZMS Maple Wind with a 50 yard closest point of approach (CPA) and within 10 yards of the Zamastanian Coast Guard Cutter ZMS Timeot's bow," the Zamastanian Navy's 3rd Fleet said in a statement. The Maple Wind, an expeditionary mobile base vessel, and the Timeot are part of a larger Zamastanian flotilla conducting joint integration operations with Zamastanian Army attack helicopters in the international waters of the Ossinia Sea according to the Navy. "The Zamastanian crews issued multiple warnings via bridge-to-bridge radio, five short blasts from the ships' horns and long range acoustic noisemaker devices, but received no response from the ORNF," the Navy said. "After approximately two hours of bridge-to-bridge radio, the Maple Wind fired six warning shots. The ORNF vessels at that moment responded to the bridge-to-bridge radio queries, then maneuvered away from the Zamastanian ships and opened distance between them." The Navy said the actions of the Ossinian vessels were "dangerous and provocative" and "increased the risk of miscalculation and collision." Ossinian officials did not immediately comment, but the country's state-owned news agency acknowledged the incident, according to The Tofino Times. The incident comes one week after a Austrolisian shipping vessel was boarded and detained by Ossinian forces in international waters, resulting in the death of one Austrolis sailor. It also comes roughly two weeks after an Ossinian missile is suspected on hitting an oil well in Japana-controlled waters, killing 5 workers. Multiple attacks on oil wells, both in Zamastanian and Janapan waters, have occured in the past three months, resulting in injuries and a few fatalities. Ossinia has denied playing a role in the attacks, though survailance footage and footage from Zamastanian warships in the area capture vessels with Ossinian markings and registration. There is suspicion that Ossinia sponsors piracy against international shipping, while also being directly involved in other incidents such as today's maneuvers and last week's capture of the Austrolisian ship. VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSOSSINIAN MISSILE STRIKES ZAMASTANIAN SHIP, KILLING 7 SAILORSThe ZMS August Vendetta was struck by a missile fired from an Ossinian warship, the RNV Gabeaurd, according to the Department of DefenseAbove: The ZMS August Vendetta (on the horizon) burns after being hit by a suspected Ossinian missile from a warship. The attack happened in international watersAfter two weeks of escalating tensions, the fears of conflict have begun to boil over in the Ossinia Sea as the ZMS August Vendetta, a Zamastanian warship, was hit with a suspected Ossinian missile, resulting in the deaths of 7 sailors and several dozen more injured. The vessel, operating with the 3rd Fleet in the Ossinia Sea approximately thirty miles off the coast of Zamastan (in international waters), reportedely detected an incoming target and moments later reported an explosion, which caused the ship to violently buckle and list. A missile was registered on the ship's radar, as well as the radar readings of other ships in the fleet, and footage from another ship, the ZMS Maple Wind (which yesterday was involved in a standoff with Ossinian naval boats), shows an explosion concurrent with missile strikes. The missile hit the forward deck of the vessel, and while it didn't seriously damage the ship's bulk and hull, did leave 7 sailors dead and dozens more injured, with a gun turret and forward mess hall being severely damaged. The missile is believed to have been intentionally fired from an Ossinian warship, the RNV Gabeaurd, operating in solo manuevers about five miles south of the fleet. While originally thought to be an accidental launch, the Defense Department and the Zamastanian Naval Command now say that projections and radio chatter retrieved during and after the incident indicate that the ship intentionally fired the missile. Admiral Garrett Bittern, a spokesperson for the Navy, says that the Zamastanian Intelligence Service and the Navy are working congruently to determine who in the Ossinian chain of command ordered the attack. President Foley Sakzi has raised the Armed Force's state of alert, stating that he condemned Ossinia for their actions. "The government and Armed Forces of Ossinia and the regime of President Martin Saint-Yves are responsible for the attack on our naval forces today," President Sakzi said. "The blood of our sailors are on their hands." Congressional Hall has been conviened to discuss the ongoing crisis in the Ossinia Sea, as shipping remains a target to state-sponsored piracy and more evidence shows active Ossinian aggression against international interests in the region. "President Saint-Yves has reverted to aggression instead of diplomacy," Sakzi said. "Not once has he come to a mediation table. Instead, his regime pays pirates to board, raid, and kill ships regardless of nationality. His armed forces attack oil wells and shipping vessels on cusps of false accusations. Deaths and casualties continue to mount as his reckless bloodlust claims the sea. Martin Saint-Yves and his illegal actions must be stopped." It is unknown what the Sakzi administration will do in response to Friday's attack on the ZMS August Vendetta, though speculations on military action against the regime beyond the active and increased naval presence are already abounding in Congressional Hall. Senator Euan Gunn, currently the second-place runner for the GLP candidacy for President in September's election, stated that he was cautious and wary about the possible use of military force. "I'm frankly worried that President Sakzi will react too quickly in this case," Gunn said. "Obviously a response is needed, a firm one of course. Seven sailors were killed and the Zamastanian Navy has not agitated any such provocation. However, we should think thoroughly before taking immediate action, and especially before taking military action." Other senators, specifically members of the BCP, are already calling for retaliatory attacks. Sakzi has stated that he is weighing all options and will be working with Congressional Hall to determine the next step. See full article here: zkcastor.wixsite.com/thetofinotimes

VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSZAMASTANIAN CONTAINER SHIP SUNK BY OSSINIAN WARSHIP, RUSKAYNIAN ORE SHIP DETAINED BY OSSINIAN FORCESThe MV Galen Schulz, a Tarin Shipping Line Vessel, was struck by a missile early Saturday morning. Two sailors are injured. A Ruskaynian vessel has also been detained and is being held in a Périnnois portAbove: The MV Galen Schulz listing after a missile strike on Saturday morning, May 16th, 2020In another episode of a series of rapidly escalating tensions, a Zamastanian container ship, the MV Galen Schulz has been sunk in the Ossinia Sea by a Ossinian warship, according to the Zamastanian Department of Defense. While there were no fatalities and all crew members were accounted for, the missile strike seriously injured two sailors and the ship ultimately sank. About an hour after the MV Galen Schulz's sinking, a Ruskaynian ore ship, the MV Skipjack, was detained by the Ossinian Revolutionary Naval Forces and is currently being held in a port in the capital of Périnnois. The crew is all accounted for, but are under arrest without charge according to both the Zamastanian Intelligence Services and Ruskayn's Defense Ministry. The incidents prompted even more outrage to the already festering anger in Zamastanian sentiment towards the Ossinian government, which yesterday "directly ordered a free-fire attack on the ZMS August Vendetta," according to findings published by the Zamastanian Intelligence Service. A nearly month long series of attacks which have included a missile strike on a Janapa-owned oil rig which killed 5 workers, the boarding and detaining of an Austrolis shipping vessel which resulted in one sailor dying, and the harassment of several other vessels in the region such as an incident only two days ago involving the ZMS Maple Wind being intercepted by Ossinian Revolutionary Naval Forces speed boats. President Sakzi was quick to condemn the Ossinian government and its President, Martin Saint-Yves, who Zamastan has called an illegitimate leader and a dictator. "Once again," Sakzi said, "even as we mourn the loss of our noble sailors from yesterday's attack and have not yet buried them, Ossinia progressively attacks ships on the high seas. This renegade government needs to be held accountable. I call on the international community to condemn and sanction Ossinia for its blagrent and violent actions against Zamastan, Janapa, Austrolis, Ruskayn, Avergnon, and the freedom of international waters." Congressional Hall, who had already been convening for answers on how to respond to yesterday's missile attack on the ZMS August Vendetta, is now having to shift its focus even more precisely to Ossinia's perceived relentless and desegregated targeting of international shipping. "I don't understand what President Saint-Yves thinks he will achieve from these attacks," said Senator Oscar Reyes (BCP-ZN), "it's only going to bring trouble to his regime. He must know that Zamastan, and Lord hoping the international community, will not stand for these detainings, for this missile strikes, for this sinkings and these killings." Senator Anastazja Allison (CCP-AC) was resolute in her resolve that Ossinia was on a warpath with Zamastan. "Zamastan has never just sat back and let a foreign government kick us around like this before. President Sakzi and the rest of Congress knows that President Saint-Yves is gunning for our economic standing in the region, and they're playing a dangerous game. There aren't signs of slowing down, since every attempt we've had to negotiate has so far been thrown back in our faces. Now we have a burning warship in Anchorhead's harbor and a container ship at the bottom of the sea." The "burning warship" Senator Allison was referring to is the ZMS August Vendetta, which was towed back to the nearest Zamastanian port at Anchorhead after yesterday's attack. The ship has been moored in the harbor as fires in the ship's interior continue to burn. Senator Allison represents the district that the city of Anchorhead is in, where sentiments for calls of military action have spiked in recent days. "We need to take this fight directly to Ossinia," said Forrest Gurnadeau, an elderly longtime resident of Anchorhead. "I've lived in this city for seventy years, ever since my family fled here in 1951 because of the World War. They lived in Titania before, and they left because of the tyranical and terrible attrocities they experienced from the Drambenburg bombings. They attacked ships every day, and Zamastan's leaders didn't sit back and twiddle their thumbs then. They acted. My hope is that the Congressional Hall will act swiftly and with a strong hand." Others, however, are more reserved that a peaceful agreement can be reached. "We've seen too much war as a country," said Remy Lengio, a 29-year old resident of Anchorhead. "Like, all of these wars in my lifetime have been fought abroad. It might start with an attack or an incident in our country, and while yes, I think we should respond when that happens, it doesn't always have to be with a punch back. Our country has lost tens of thousands of men and women fighting in wars we don't have to fight. Vulkaria, Gladysynthia, Jaginistan, like those weren't all necessary. We could've talked. Human experience dictates that we long for relationship with others, so why don't we try and work out a common ground between us and the Ossinian government?" VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSC.o.C.A. SECRETARY-GENERAL VON WETTIN CALLS FOR OSSINIA'S SEAT TO BE SUSPENDEDKatherine von Wettin's calls mark the first time since 1982 that a nation's seat in the General Assembly is at vote for suspensionAbove: Von Wettin announcing a vote to suspend Ossinia's seat in the Coalition of Crown Albatross General AssemblyFollowing the missile attacks and detaining of dozens of commerical and military ships in the Ossinia Sea in the past two weeks, Coalition of Crown Albatross Secretary-General Katherine von Wettin has called for a vote to determine whether or not to suspend Ossinia's seat in the General Assembly. This is the first time since 1982 that such action has been taken in the General Assembly, with the last time being against Beleroskov due to its invasion of Jaginistan. That 1982 vote did not pass, and Beleroskov remained active in the C.o.C.A.. Ossinia, however, is at serious risk of losing its seat. For many reasons, it does not have great international support. The percieved indiscriminate attacks on shipping vessels of all nationalities, not just Zamastanian, is alarming. 32 sailors have been killed due to Ossinian aggression in the past two weeks, with their citizenships being from all over the world. Ossinia is also one of the last communist states left on Iearth (Yuan is a communist state, but has largely shifted to privatization and capitalist markets within a socialist government), leaving it ideologically isolated. The government of Ossinia has also been accused of dozens of violations in crimes against humanity, including mass executions, torture, and censorship. President Saint-Yves has himself been called a dictator by multiple countries. To make matters worse for Ossinia's future in the General Assembly, they have not offered any terms or statements to negotiate with, rather choosing to ignore international calls for cessesion of hostilities for further attacks and detentions. President Sakzi called the government "a renegade" in his remarks, stating that they are attacking and operating at will with no concern for what might happen. For von Wettin, a member of the Drambenburg royal family, this crisis could be the defining one of her term. Having taken office on January 1st of this year, she hasn't had to face any military crisis as of yet, and this escalation of tensions will determine her leadership of nations during troubling times. VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSOSSINIAN PRESIDENT MARTIN SAINT-YVES CONFIRMS HE ORDERED ATTACKS, BLASTS ZAMASTAN AND SG VON WETTINSaint-Yves Says "Zamastan will burn before we are done"Above: President Martin Saint-Yves of Ossinia went on a tirade against Zamastan, Secretary General von Wettin, and the International Community24 hours following the shocking events of the sinking of a Zamastanian cargo vessel and the detainment of a Ruskaynian ship (MV Skipjack) and an Avergnon ship (MV Continental), President Martin Saint-Yves of Ossinia has broken his silence and blasted Zamastan and others in a rambling tirade that did little to shred his persona of dangerous moves. In a televised address, which appeared to be off-script and without the use of notes or a teleprompter, the Zamastanian-labeled dictator said that he was "directly responsible for the noble strikes," and that he was "proud of my troops and my military forces" for their "valient efforts to destroy the tyrants of Zamastan and their corporate allies." The dictator went after the Zamastanian Navy and President Foley Sakzi, saying "the aggresor's warships will hit the sea floor with tremendous pools of blood trailing behind them," going on to say that "Sakzi has condemned his men to death by having them stray into our waters." Despite Saint-Yves' claims, Zamastan and multiple countries have confirmed that the attacks all occured in international waters and Zamastanian waters. The sinking of the MV Galen Schulz and the capture of the MV Skipjack, for instance, occured in international shipping lanes, while the missile attack on the ZMS August Vendetta occured in Zamastanian waters. "Zamastan will burn before we are done," Saint-Yves said, promising "more righteous strikes" on Zamastanian war vessels if they "keep operating in the Ossinia Sea." He also promised more detainings and possible attacks on international vessels, saying "the corporate alliances and alligient governments to Zamastan are not safe if they continue to sail here." "Von Wettin and her cabinet are nothing but pawns," he said, going after C.o.C.A. Secretary-General Katherine von Wettin's call for a vote in the General Assembly to suspend Ossinia's seat. The vote has not yet taken place. "Von Wettin and her cronies are doomed for eternity for their easy manipulation. They are the weak minded representatives of the rest of this repungent world that keeps our country restrained." President Sakzi responded to the rambling address, saying that Saint-Yves is begging for retaliation with these comments. "These are the statements of a man clearly trying to desperately cling to a frail country. His people clearly don't believe in him, and the only reason he's in power is because of his sway over the military. These attacks proved that he is unhinged and that his military only follows him because they now believe that they're taking on the 'giant'. Zamastan is seen as their greatest enemy, so they feel empowered when their President says 'go on, have at it. Take your shot.' Obviously we will not stand for this. We will take action and respond. One way or another, Saint-Yves is going to pay for all the lives he has destroyed." See full article here: zkcastor.wixsite.com/thetofinotimes

VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSCONGRESSIONAL HALL APPROVES PRESIDENTIAL ACTION FOR POSSIBLE MILITARY RETALIATIONCongress passed a resolution that gives Sakzi the authority to take military action against OssiniaAbove: A Barangadeshi ship, the MV Felishan Star, burning after being hit by an Ossinian missile on Thursday, May 21stCongressional Hall on Saturday passed a resolution that gives President Foley Sakzi the authority to take military action against the government and armed forces of Ossinia, following a nearly two week long debate on how to respond to the mounting threats and loss of life from Ossinian attacks. Speaker of the Chamber Larious Maxwell announced the passing of the resolution, which was made 352-148, and the limits on what the resolution entails. Under the ammended rule, President Sakzi is allowed the authority to order strikes against Ossinian military and government targets, and military commanders are required to comply with direct Presidential orders unless stated otherwise by further Congressional resolutions. Critics to the resolution say that it gives Sakzi too much power over the armed forces by maintaining that commanders are required to take direct Presidential order, even if it is not previously discussed with the President's aides and advisors. Defendents, however, were quick to note that had Sakzi wanted direct military action, he could have requested it from Congressional Hall weeks ago. Ossinian missile and naval aggression in the Ossinia Sea continue, as on Friday two shipping vessels, one under an Avergnon flag and a second under a Costa Sarba flag, were detained. Thursday saw another missile strike on a Barangadeshi container ship, injuring two sailors. Sakzi has threatened action in response to weeks of attacks that have resulted in dozens of deaths, the sinking of several ships, and the loss of billions in financial resources. President Saint-Yves of Ossinia has declared that Ossinia will not stop the attacks until "every ship of Zamastan and the great devil's allies are at the bottom of the sea," or until "the Ossinia Sea is free of foreign capitalists." VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSFOREIGN AND DEFENSE MINISTRIES ADVISE INTERNATIONAL VESSELS, AIRCRAFT, AND PRIVATE VEHICLES TO AVOID OSSINIAN TERRITORIAL WATERS, THE STRAIT OF CRANES, AND THE SOUTH ANCHORHEAD ISLANDSSPECULATION ABOUT MILITARY STRIKE SPIKES WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENTAbove: The Presidential Mansion MOMENTS AGO: TOFINOThe Foreign Ministry and the Defense Ministry have issued a joint advisory to the international community and the Coalition of Crown Albatross, warning to avoid any navigation, be it international shipping, aircraft, or personal, around Ossinian territorial waters, the Strait of Cranes, and the South Anchorhead Islands in Zamastan. Secretary of Defense Curtis Fondanden and Secretary of State Avi Tremblan issued the advisory, stating "amidst unprecidented aggression and escalating violence in the Ossinia Sea from the government of Ossinia, the Imperial Republic of Zamastan warns against travel or transport of any kind in the region for the next 48 hours." It is unknown whether this notice is a direct correlation to earlier developments today, where Congressional Hall granted President Sakzi military powers to have authority over military action against Ossinian government and military sites. There is immense speculation currently underway as to whether Zamastan is preparing a military strike against Ossinia. The 3rd Fleet, which has been operating in the region for weeks, has reportedly gone into radio silence. Military officials, who requested to remain anonymous, declined to provide any information as to the Ministry's advisory. President Sakzi was also unavailable for comment, as was Speaker of the Chamber Larious Maxwell and members of the Senate's Defense Committee. There is substantial activity at the Zian Presidential Mansion, as TTT Presidential reporter Kenneth Depland has reported several military uniformed personal entering and exiting the complex. President Sakzi is at the residence. It is 9:30 PM, an unusual time for military officials to be on the premises. Stay Tuned to The Tofino Times for updates. VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSZAMASTAN INVADES OSSINIAA MASSIVE AERIAL BOMBARDMENT PROCEEDED THREE AMPHIBIOUS LANDINGS. TROOPS ENCOUNTER LITTLE RESISTANCE. PRESIDENT SAKZI ADDRESSES THE NATION. Above: Zamastanian Z-15E fighters launch from the deck of the ZMS Vessalia on May 23rd, a day before the invasion Shortly after midnight at 00:13 AM on May 24th, a surprise military invasion by the Zamastanian Armed Forces against Ossinia began. Neither President Sakzi nor Congressional Hall issued a declaration of war, justified by Ossinia's previous attacks on Zamastanian vessels in Zamastanian waters, constituting an act of war. The invasion is being led by Zamastanian Army General Avery Reynolds, under the code-name "Operation Black Blizzard". The invasion was preceded by an intensive series of airstrikes involving eight squadrons of a total of forty two Z-15E fighter-bombers against military installations on the islands of Stéphane, Augustin, Chevalier, and Girardot. The main island of Augustin was hardest hit, with government and military sites the capital of Périnnois, including the headquarters of the Ossinia Revolutionary Armed Forces, the National Capitol Building, and the Presidential Palace. In addition to the building and facilities sites, the bulk of Ossinia's navy was destroyed or damaged in the initial bombardment, with both of Ossinia's destroyers provided by Drambenburg's Lakhid Myrtan being sunk in their respective ports. It's estimated that at least 400 Ossinians, including soldiers, sailors, officers, and maintenance workers were killed. In the space of three hours, 56 military sites were destroyed, effectively depriving the Ossinian military of any early warning of the coming invasion. 46,000 Zamastanian soldiers participated in landings at three beachheads on the main island of Augustin, codenamed Tyren (on the west coast), Fulcrum (north of Périnnois), and Pelican (south of Périnnois). The first wave of troops landed at 5:32 AM to very little resistance, seizing the beachheads and starting to progress inland to create sectors for troops and supplies to land on the island. General Avery Reynolds described the three objectives of the invasion to reporters following the seizure of the beachfronts; "We have three objectives in this operation. First, ending the regime of Martin Saint-Yves. Second, to identify, isolate, and eliminate Ossinia's military installations, no matter how big or small. Third, to end sanctions and to immediately deliver humanitarian support to the displaced and to many needy Ossinian citizens." President Sakzi made the announcement of the invasion in an address to the nation half an hour before troops started landing on the beachheads. Here is the transcript of the President’s address: My fellow Zamastanians, at this hour, Zamastanian forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm the Ossinian regime, remove Martin Saint-Yves from power, and to free its people. On my orders, Zamastanian forces have begun striking selected targets of military importance to undermine Saint-Yves' ability to wage war. Missile installations have been knocked out and decimated, and the Revolutionary Navy has been utterly grounded. Their airforce is already in shambles, and their troops are already on the run. To all of our men and women in the Armed Forces, we understand the grave duty you have, and you are doing this country proud by serving and protecting. The world is already in a safer position than it was a few mere days ago. Saint-Yves unrelentingly brought destruction and death to the sea, striking at innocent vessels of any nation. His missiles will no longer threaten international shipping and the lives of sailors from all corners of the globe. His pirates will no longer pillage and burn the hold captive of our loved ones working on the oceanic trade routes. Saint-Yves needs to be removed from power. That is one of the primary objectives of this operation. In a last atrocity of many, he is sending his troops into the streets among civilians. Our soldiers will be sure to fight with the care and caution that they always have to minimize civilian loss, but this act further goes to demonstrate the dangers this mad man possesses. Make no mistake. We will hunt down and capture Saint-Yves and bring him to justice. The fight is already making extraordinary progress, but we are in this until we win. We will accept no outcome less than total victory over the regime. We will bring freedom to Ossinia. May God bless our troops, the people of Ossinia, and may God bless Zamastan.” In an additional statement released by the Ministry of Defense, Secretary Fondaden reiterated the advisory to international vessels and aircraft to stay clear of Ossinian territory to avoid any accidental incidents. He also addressed the Drambenburg government, which had moved to debate declaring war on Ossinia, to avoid any declarations due to the rapidly moving Zamastanian invasion. “While we see and acknowledge Drambenburg’s move to take action against the regime of Saint-Yves, we advise strongly and caution the Drambenburgian government and Armed Forces to stand down. We want to urge that collateral damage and cross-fire scenarios are very likely considering the relatively small battlefield and the pace and limit of our own operation. We will be in constant contact with the government of Drambenburg and all other cooperative nations during the process of our military operation to ensure safety for both our troops, your troops, and the civilians of Ossinia.” See full article here: zkcastor.wixsite.com/thetofinotimes

VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSINVASION MOVING SWIFTLY, CASUALTIES ARE LOWZAMASTANIAN SOLDIERS HAVE FACED LITTLE RESISTANCE, CASUALTIES ARE MINIMAL. SAINT-YVES REPORTEDLY FLEEING TO COUNTRYSIDE Above: Zamastanian marines on the beachhead code named 'Fulcrum' on Sunday afternoon Zamastanian forces have successfully launched a daring invasion into Ossinia, marking one of the fastest, largest, and most strategically sound military operations in the 21st century according to military analysts. After a swift capture of three beachheads, about 50,000 troops are on the main island of Augustin, seizing and securing town after town, all within 16 hours of the initial attack. Casualty figures obtained by Zamastanian command indicate that 19 Zamastanian soldiers have been killed; far lower than the original estimation that several hundred would be killed in the daring beach landings. A Zamastanian helicopter crashed in a village near one of the beachheads after sustaining enemy fire, but the crew survived with only the pilot suffering a broken arm. President Sakzi praised the armed forces' tremendous success, saying that their hard effort was "paving the way for freedom and democracy for Ossinia and the wider safety of the international community". President Saint-Yves, marked for arrest by the Zamastanian coalition, has reportedly fled from the capital of Périnnois, which has been the site of the heaviest fighting so far in the invasion. Saint-Yves' forces have imbedded themselves in the city. Several hundred Ossinian troops have already been killed in the fighting, with thousands surrendering to Zamastanian forces. While the majority of the international community is initially backing the invasion as a positive development, another regional power is touting Zamastanian agression as a severe breach of international security. Drambenburg's Prime Minister, kaiser Peter XXI von Wettin, said that "the lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep. Zamastan should keep it's nose out of the business of its neighbors. You are not the international police force." Von Wettin, who is the younger brother of C.C.A. Secretary-General Katherine von Wettin, continued by saying "Despite the call for an international expeditionary force to intervene in Ossinia on behalf of the free people of the country and free trade throughout the region, Zamastan elected to invade the nation alone, leaving them to work through the nation unchecked, and potentially turn it into a puppet state." Von Wettin said that Drambenburg would not tolerate "this level of imperialism." Additionally, several politicians in Congressional Hall are angered by the invasion, saying President Sakzi should have issued a declaration of war through the Congress and Senate before taking action. However, Sakzi was not permitted to do so as Congressional Hall yesterday passed a resolution giving Sakzi authority over the action to take against Ossinia. VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Ossinia Tensions BREAKING NEWSCAPITAL FALLS TO ZAMASTANIAN FORCESPérinnois' government district, commercial center, and airport have all been secured; pockets of resistance remain Above: Zamastanian soldiers play with kids in Périnnois, which surrendered to Zamastanian forces and has only pockets of resistance. President Martin Saint-Yves and many high-ranking military and government persons have fled the city, and manhunts are underway. Just over a day into the invasion, the Zamastanian Army's 3rd Infantry Division, with the 2nd Marine Division also present, moved into Périnnois. Units of the Ossinian Special Revolutionary Guard led the defence of the city. The rest of the defenders were a mixture of Revolutionary Guard units, regular army units, paramilitary units, and non-Ossinian volunteers, largely made up of mercenaries. Initial plans were for Coalition units to surround the city and gradually move in, forcing Ossinian armor and ground units to cluster into a central pocket in the city, and then attack with air and artillery forces. This plan soon became unnecessary, as an initial engagement of armored units south of the city saw most of the Revolutionary Guard's assets destroyed and routes in the southern outskirts of the city occupied. On May 25th, a Special Forces Division executed a raid, later called the "Thunder Drop", to test remaining Ossinian defenses, with 29 tanks and 14 armored fighting vehicles advancing to the Périnnois airport. They met significant resistance, but were successful in reaching the airport, and eventually secured it after heavy fighting. Another brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division attacked into downtown Périnnois and occupied one of the palaces of Saint-Yves in fierce fighting. Marines also faced heavy shelling from Ossinian artillery as they attempted to cross a creek bridge, but the creek crossing was successful. The Ossinians managed to inflict some casualties on the invading forces near the airport from defensive positions but suffered severe casualties from air bombardment. Within hours of the palace seizure and with television coverage of this spreading through Ossinia, Zamastanian forces ordered Ossinian forces within Périnnois to surrender, or the city would face a full-scale assault. Roughly 19,000 enemy combatants have already surrendered to Zamastanian forces. Ossinian government officials had either disappeared or had conceded defeat, and in the afternoon, Périnnois was formally occupied by Coalition forces. Pockets of Périnnois remains unsecured however, and fighting continues within the city and its outskirts well into the period of occupation. Zamastanian forces supported by mortars, artillery, and aircraft continued to attack Ossinian forces still loyal to Saint-Yves and non-Ossinian volunteers. Zamastanian aircraft flying in support were met with Ossinian anti-aircraft fire. At least twenty Zamastanian soldiers have been killed, far lower than the original predicted casualty counts. As the occupation of the city began, Ossinian citizens, especially those living in impoverished neighborhoods, ran out to greet Zamastanian soldiers, in many cases celebrating their arrival. A photographer with the Tofino Times captured a photo of two Zamastanian marines playing soccer with a group of Ossinian kids, a sign of overwhelming relief to the end of Saint-Yves' long and tyrannical regime. However, not every citizen was so enthusiastic about the occupation. In the south of the city in higher end residential zones, a mob gathered around a moving APV column, throwing rotten food and shouting at Zamastanian soldiers. At one instance, soldiers had to shoot tear gas to disperse the crowd once people started climbing onto military vehicles, but there have otherwise been no reported engagements or violent incidents with the civilian population of the city. Saint-Yves has fled the city, according to army command, who say he has likely left for one of his many suspected compounds in the interior of the main island of Augustin. VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: OSSINIAN CONFLICT BREAKING NEWSTHE SEARCH FOR SAINT-YVESThe Ossinian leader has become a renegade, nowhere to be found in Périnnois' government district. Now Zamastanian troops are scouring the city and countryside to find him Above: Zamastanian soldiers patrol a grove of palm trees in Ossinia on Tuesday, May 26th Zamastanian troops are mopping up resistance in villaes across Ossinia. The islands of Stéphane, Chevalier, and Girardot have completely fallen to coalition forces as their regional governors and administrators have overwhelmingly thrown their support behind Zamastanian troops. Much of the main island of Augustin has also surrendered, with pockets of resistance limited to neighborhoods in the coastal cities. The fighting has greatly subsided, only 48 hours after the invasion commenced. However, one major question serves as the objective to coalition forces across the country: where is Martin Saint-Yves? The Ossinian president has become a renegade. He reportedly fled Périnnois as the initial airstrikes occured on the 24th. Because of the massive surrender sweeping the remainder of the Ossinian military, Saint-Yves is believed to be traveling with only a few guards and perhaps some of his generals. Zamastanian troops have been assigned playing cards with the pictures, names, and occupations of higher-up personel in the Ossinian command structure, including Saint-Yves. The current belief held by much of military command is that Saint-Yves may have fled into the countryside, or the interior, of the main island of Augustin, where he has many Presidential retreats and compounds. If Saint-Yves is captured, he will be put into Zamastanian custody. It is unknown whether he will be given a military tribunal, as there is no precedent for a foreign head of state being put into custody by Zamastanian forces. VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: OSSINIAN CONFLICT BREAKING NEWSMARTIN SAINT-YVES CAPTURED BY ZAMASTANIAN FORCESTHE RENEGADE OSSINIAN LEADER WAS FOUND IN A SECRET ROOM IN A COMPOUND ON AUGUSTIN Above: Zamastanian soldiers carry out an operation to capture Martin Saint-Yves in Cienfuega on Wednesday, May 27th Martin Saint-Yves has been captured, marking the end of his brutal 21-year long regime. On May 27th, three days into the invasion, Operation "Parakeet Race" was launched after gaining actionable intelligence identifying two likely locations of Martin Saint-Yves' whereabouts code-named Badger 1 and Badger 2, near the town of Cienfuega. The Forces involved in the operation consisted of approximately 600 soldiers including cavalry, artillery, aviation, engineer and special operations forces. The forces cleared the two objectives but initially did not find the target. Then, as the operators were finishing and the helicopters called in to extract them, one assaulter kicked a piece of fabricated dry wall, exposing a vaulted room; he prepared to throw a fragmentation grenade into it – in case it led to an insurgent tunnel system, when suddenly Saint-Yves appeared. The operator struck him with the stock of his rifle and disarmed him of a pistol. Saint-Yves surrendered and offered no real resistance; he was exfiltrated by a Navy helicopter to the main Périnnois Mission Support Site (the government center of the city) where he was properly identified. After proper identification, he was then taken by another Navy helicopter from PMSS and into custody at Périnnois International Airport. Along with a pistol, an assault rifle and Z$2,750,000 in Zamastanian bank notes were recovered from the secret vault. Two other individuals were also detained, one being a top-tier commander in the Ossinian Revolutionary Armed Forces. There were no casualties in the operation. President Sakzi praised Zamastanian forces on their operation, saying that "the tyrant has been dethroned for good, and now he will face justice in a court-system, one that he has deprived his own people of. Democracy will prevail over tyranny." See full article here: zkcastor.wixsite.com/thetofinotimes

VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: OSSINIAN CONFLICT BREAKING NEWSMARTIN SAINT-YVES EXTRADITED TO ZAMASTAN FOR TRIALMAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS CONCLUDE AS ZAMASTAN WORKS TO BUILD UP A NEW GOVERNMENT FROM REVOLUTIONARY FORCES Above: A Zamastanian military convoy delivers former Ossinian President Martin Saint-Yves to a holding site in Tregueux, Zamastan, on May 29th Martin Saint-Yves has been extradited to Zamastan, where he and 53 members of his military and government will be tried for war and international criminal charges in Tregueux. Saint-Yves will be formally charged by a court on Monday, June 1st, where he will then be put on trial alongside his constituents. The prosecutors and defendant lawyers will be Ossinian citizens so as to deviate from a Zamastanian bias, though critics were fast to point out that charging former-Ossinian regime leaders in Zamastan presents an issue for fairness of the upcoming trial. "They should be charged in Ossinia, by a fully Ossinian court," said Senator Rergia Frank of Alenchon, "we want this process to procede in a fair process." Other lawmakers toted victorious praise for the rapidly accomplished military victory and the overwhelming positive response from the Ossinian population to the toppling of the regime. "This was a victorious and spectacular operation, which moved much faster and much more efficiently than we predicted," said Senator Ian Flaggery of Jade. "The Ossinians want their former tyrants charged and brought to justice for the executions and war crimes they've committed for decades." See full article here: zkcastor.wixsite.com/thetofinotimes

VOL. XXXII .. Num. 6320 | In the News: Zamastanian Space Program BREAKING NEWSCONSTRUCTION ON THE COALITION SPACE STATION COMPLETEDTHE SPACE STATION ORBITS IEATH AT 250 MILES ABOVE THE PLANET Above: The international effort to construct a space station above the planet has been accomplished. The CSS will service international astronauts year-round Construction has been completed aboard the brand new Coalition Space Station, with the last solar panel modules being attached by Zamastanian and Avergnonian astronauts. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in zero gravity with Zamastanian astronauts Aaron Bechard and Damien Subercaseaux, alongside Avergnonian astronaut Thaddée Cousteau and Cadairian astronaut Rhydwyn Bach, with President Sakzi of Zamastan, President Selleaux of Avergnon, Mab Darogan Morgan of Cadair, and SG von Wettin video conferencing into the space station to congratulate the astronauts and the space agencies of the nations involved in the endeavor. "How do you feel being the first humans to live on a permanent home in space, gentlemen?" asked President Selleaux to the spacemen. "We're feeling great, Mister President," responded Cousteau, the first Avergnonian astronaut to ever travel to space. "This is a momentous occasion." The Coalition Space Station is a modular space station (habitable artificial satellite) in low planet orbit. The space station can house upwards of 10 astronauts at a time, and will be primarily used for atmospheric study and experiments of the effects of earthly objects in space. The ownership and use of the space station has been established by intergovernmental treaties and agreements over the past two decades of the station's development. The CSS serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which scientific experiments are conducted in astrobiology, astronomy, meteorology, physics, and other fields. The station is suited for testing the spacecraft systems and equipment required for possible future long-duration missions to the Moon and other planets. It is the largest artificial object in space and the largest satellite in low Iearth orbit, regularly visible to the naked eye from Iearth's surface. It maintains an orbit with an average altitude of 400 kilometres (250 mi) by means of reboost manoeuvres using the engines of the Albatross Service Module or visiting spacecraft. The CSS circles the Iearth in roughly 93 minutes, completing 15.5 orbits per day. See full article here: zkcastor.wixsite.com/thetofinotimes
